SASSA Is Hiring a Regional Executive – Earn Up to R1.9 Million in Gauteng

Pretoria, 18 June 2025 – The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced a prime opportunity for seasoned professionals to join its leadership team. The position of Regional Executive Manager for the Gauteng Regional Office is now open for applications, offering a permanent appointment with a lucrative salary ranging from R1,741,770 to R1,962,090 per annum (inclusive of benefits).

This key leadership role aims to strengthen regional operations and improve the delivery of critical social security services across Gauteng, ensuring operational excellence, policy alignment, and enhanced service delivery in line with the agency’s strategic objectives.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

Applicants must meet the following strict minimum requirements to be considered:

  • A recognized NQF Level 8 qualification endorsed by SAQA.
  • Successful completion of the SMS Pre-entry Programme (Nyukela) endorsed by the National School of Government (NSG) prior to appointment.
  • Certificate for entry into the Senior Management Service (SMS).
  • At least 8 years’ senior managerial experience.
  • A valid driver’s license and computer literacy are essential and must be clearly indicated on the CV.

Key Responsibilities:

The appointed Regional Executive Manager will:

  • Oversee, manage, and report on regional social security operations.
  • Ensure that legislative frameworks, operational norms, and policy directives are implemented effectively.
  • Maintain a productive and ethical working environment, aligning regional goals with SASSA’s strategic mission.
  • Collaborate with the Agency’s Executive team to support good governance, compliance, and improved service delivery.
  • Drive performance and financial management, ensuring the agency’s footprint is expanded efficiently across Gauteng.
  • Promote stakeholder relationships, ensure staff accountability, and oversee all operational systems including grant administration and payment management.

Knowledge & Competencies Required:

The ideal candidate must demonstrate high-level proficiency in:

  • Labour and Employment Law: Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity Act.
  • Policy and Financial Governance: Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), policy development, and legislative interpretation.
  • Managerial Competence: Strategic thinking, planning and organizing, innovation, conflict resolution, problem solving, and effective communication.

Preference Criteria:

In line with SASSA’s Employment Equity Plan, preference will be given to African Males, Coloured Males, Indian Males or Females, and White Males or Females.
